Paragon Digital Base Station

The Dataradio ParagonPD+ from CalAmp is an integrated industrial-grade data base station. Together with Dataradio's GeminiPD+ integrated mobile radio modem, the system delivers high-speed data performance at up to 43.2 Kbps in full channels, 22 Kbps in half (refarmed) channels or 24 Kbps in NPSPAC, and 900 MHz channels.

The ParagonPD+ includes a powerful controller CPU with improved maintenance features and a modular design. Dataradio's advanced DSP Parallel Decode® modem offers improved decode sensitivity and fewer retransmissions, resulting in faster response times and greater channel capacity. Units are supplied in a configuration that includes a ParagonPD+ RF assembly and a high-speed Dataradio BDLC (Base Station Data Link Controller) with five ports. Duplexer, wireline modem(s), and backup power units are optional.

Wideband Data Adaptable to your Needs! The Paragon3 Base Station Controller features our most powerful modem ever! Capable of handling over 900 million instructions per second, with 16 MB of flash memory and plenty of horsepower to spare, you'll get a unit that can grow as your future needs.

User selectable data rates. Get the most from your network in terms of both speed and coverage. With the new Paragon3 base station, you'll get data rates of 128 kbps in 50 kHz wideband channels at 700 MHz. The 800 MHz Paragon3 delivers 64 kbps in 25 kHz channels while the UHF Paragon3 offers data throughputs of 64 kbps over UHF frequencies in 25 kHz channels.

No Proprietary Network Infrastructure Required. This open architecture base station controller comes equipped with a standard IP router with dual Ethernet 10/100 BaseT interfaces replacing the need for proprietary controllers and equipment. Add a second router anywhere within your network and you have a fault tolerant network.

Remotely Manage Your RF Network. The Paragon3 base station can be completely reprogrammed remotely through your LAN and backhaul lines. Most network maintenance can be carried out from a single location. A real-time operating system and flash file system make upgrading seamless and hassle free. Add an optional Network Management System to take full advantage of both offline and online diagnostics.

Increase Network Accessibility. Our patented Parallel Decode uses a space-diversity, smart combining receiver system to eliminate multi-path fading. Network administrators will notice an increase in RF network performance by a minimum of 10 dB. The result is a significant boost in network performance that effectively doubles your network coverage area.

Interoperability is as easy as plugging in! Any application that is Native IP simply plugs right in! The modular design gives you flexibility to expand your system to include other public safety agencies based within your community or in surrounding areas. Due to very tight transmitted signal control, unbound network expansion can be accomplished using only four channels.

AES 128-bit Encryption ensures network security. AES 128-bit encryption minimizes the task of managing user access. System data is transferred securely over-the-air to keep mission-critical information safe from unwanted intrusion.

Stateless Data Compression and Protocol Reduction works with both TCP/IP and UDP to get the most efficient use of your available bandwidth without needing a dedicated server or gateway.
