In 2007, CalAmp acquired SmartLink Radio Networks, a privately-held company and leading provider of proprietary interoperable radio communications platforms and integration services for public safety and critical infrastructure needs.

Today, SmartLink products from CalAmp offer state of the art land mobile radio and communications solutions to public safety, critical infrastructure and commercial customers. SmartLink identified a need for interoperable and networked communications in 1992, and developed its architecture to be frequency transparent, protocol agile, and RF vendor neutral. SmartLink has deployed its technology in more than 80 installations worldwide.
